Boilermakers seek revenge in Big Ten Tournament clash with Wildcats
NCAA Basketball Betting Lines
03/12/2010 - Indianapolis, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The second-seeded Purdue Boilermakers will take on the seventh-seeded Northwestern Wildcats this evening in quarterfinal action of the Big Ten Conference Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Wildcats began tournament play Thursday night with a victory over Indiana (73-58). It was the second win in the last three games for Northwestern, which finished the regular season with a meager 7-11 mark in conference.
The sixth-ranked Boilermakers were sensational on the season, grabbing 26 victories, while finishing conference action with a 14-4 ledger. Purdue, which won its first-ever Big Ten Tournament title last season, has won 12 of its last 13 contests.
The Wildcats defeated Purdue, 72-64 earlier this season, but even with the win the Wildcats are on the wrong end of a 118-43 margin in the all-time series.
The Wildcats went into the intermission against Indiana down by three points, but Northwestern turned up the heat in the second stanza with a 20-5 run and went on to win by a 15-point margin. Northwestern shot 41.4 percent from the floor in the matchup and also connected on 18-of-20 shots from the foul line. Michael Thompson led the way in the win with 16 points, while John Shurna added 14 points and seven rebounds. Jeremy Nash tallied 13 points, while Davide Curletti posted 12 points off the bench. Shurna has been the best player on the floor for Northwestern this season, as the forward is leading the team with 18.4 ppg and 6.4 rpg. Thompson is the only other player netting double figures, as the guard comes into this game with 13.9 ppg, and a team- best 132 assists.
The Boilermakers were tenacious at the defensive end of the floor this season, as Purdue held the opposition to just 60.6 ppg. Teams are shooting 40.2 percent against Purdue, but the Boilermakers are limiting opponents to just 35.9 percent shooting, and have forced 15.8 turnovers per matchups. At the other end of the floor the team is producing a respectable 72.1 ppg, but without the help of Robbie Hummel, the Boilermakers could have trouble in this tournament. Hummel, who was averaging 15.7 ppg and 6.9 rpg, suffered an injury to his knee and will be out the remainder of the season. With Hummel on the sidelines the team will need E'Twaun Moore to carry even more of the load, but the guard is already pacing the team with 16.7 ppg. JaJuan Johnson has been a solid force in the paint for Purdue and is netting 14.9 ppg, to go along with team highs in rebounds (7.2 rpg) and blocks (61).

NFL Football Betting : Odds on NFL Division to Win the Super Bowl
The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.
Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.
The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
